A proven campaign leadership track record.
Strong writing skills, including proven ability to create sophisticated research reports, concise memos, fact sheets and other documents for public use in political, regulatory, community, labor, and other audiences.
Public speaking experience and ability to organize and lead large meetings.
Quantitative analysis skills, familiarity with using large data sets, and familiarity with a variety of financial reports and tools.
Strong analytical skills and ability to process complex information into simple terms.
Ability to work quickly and creatively under tight deadlines in a team environment.
Proven skill and determination in tracking down hard-to-find information.

Five years directly relevant work experience.
A Masters or equivalent degree in one of the following areas of study: Public Policy, Public Health, Social Work, Urban Planning, Business, Journalism or Law preferred, but not required.
Willingness to work long and irregular hours and participate in all union wide activities.
Willingness to travel and work in different locations for determined periods of time.
Valid driver's license, working automobile and valid auto insurance with minimum level of coverage required by staff union contract.

Working under the direction the Research Director, and in close cooperation with other Senior Management, the Deputy Director will:
Lead large scale worksite and industry based campaigns in support of, and close coordination with, internal organizing campaigns, including doing public policy analysis, budget and financial analysis, contract enforcement and contract negotiation, and other work related to labor-relations.
Play a leading role in strategic planning, prioritization and assessment of goals, and campaign development in support of the Union's organizing and representational duties.
Play a leading role in developing and maintaining relationships with key government department heads and staff, industry experts, legislative staff working on related issues, and other key stakeholders.
Share responsibility for leading and developing Research staff, assessing and developing capacity, and helping to shape the long-term project and goals of the department.
Perform other duties as assigned.
