Public Health Partnerships Coordinator
CeaseFirePA, a nonprofit advocacy organization working to end the epidemic of gun violence in Pennsylvania, is hiring a Public Health Partnerships Coordinator. As the Coordinator, you will help build the gun violence prevention movement by engaging key constituencies, such as the public health officials and faith leaders, in this life-saving work.
CeaseFirePA envisions a world where people in every community across the Commonwealth feel safe from gun violence because they are safe. Tragically, gun violence takes the lives of 1,900 Pennsylvanians every year. You are 21 times more likely to die by gun homicide if you are Black. Rural communities lose loved ones to suicide on an alarming basis. Over our two decades of work, we’ve expanded background checks, disarmed abusers and won $180 million for community-based violence prevention programs. We’ve become Pennsylvania’s leading organization working to end this public health crisis as we fight illegal trafficking, boost funding for safer communities, and save the next life from suicide.
Doctors, nurses, and public health allies understand this crisis intimately and want it to end. Our goal is to make it easier for them to advocate for life-saving solutions and direct their energy for strategic impact. Working with our existing allies and recruiting new partners, you will launch “This Is Our Lane” coalition by the end of the first year focused on giving the medical community a powerful, coordinated voice standing against gun violence.The partnership work will primarily be focused on work with the public health community, with about 20% time focused on engaging faith-based leaders and other allies. The Public Health Partnerships Coordinator, a new position at CeaseFirePA will develop common ground, drive partners to take action, and create new advisory groups among critical constituencies in conjunction with our organizing team to make it easier for our allies to be involved in efforts to end gun violence.
As the Partnership Coordinator, you will help direct a core pillar of our plans to end gun violence by helping us elevate the voices of a wide variety of partners who care deeply about this issue and whose voice can strengthen the movement.
Your responsibilities will include:
Outreach and engagement: Reaching out, building relationships with, and engage potential allies to ask for support and involve them in the work;
Coordinating Stakeholder Convening: Organizing convenings of public health officials, physicians, health care staff, hospitals/ health networks, community organizations, and other stakeholders to develop an effective policy to allow Medicaid reimbursement for community violence intervention efforts.
Develop and Support Targeted Coalitions: Working with doctors, nurses, and other public health experts who are already involved in this work, you will build an advisory committee of our strongest supporters to guide our public health community engagement. You will also coordinate our Common Agenda Coalition.
Craft Compelling Constituency-Specific Content: From writing factsheets to developing trainings to drafting media content, you will be responsible for building communications content targeted at specific audiences, making it easier for our partners to advocate for solutions to gun violence.
Collaborate with a team of organizers and advocates to help as they work with public health, veteran, law enforcement, and faith partners in their communities and programs.
As political opportunities arise and on our issues, working to connect our allies with opportunities to work on the issue and ensure their voices are heard.
What we’re looking for in you:
You have two or more years of experience working with allies and building, supporting, and managing coalitions, with a preference for some of that experience related to grassroots organizing, advocacy, or policy work;
You are a self-starter who is able to work independently, enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
You are a relationship-builder and enjoy spending time attending events, on the phone and video to identify and meet potential supporters. You can adjust messaging and approach to engage different constituencies based on their interests and motivations and connect their work to CeaseFirePA’s mission.
You have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
You pay close attention to detail and like getting the details right;
You enjoy managing several projects at the same time;
You are passionate about curbing gun violence and working for social justice and a better world;
You have a commitment to and experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds, including different ethnic, racial, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds as well as the LGBTQ+ community.
Not required, but a big plus if you have experience working directly with or in the public health or health care community, including as a doctor, nurse, or other public health workers or have a master’s of public health.

LOCATION: We have a preference for candidates based in the Philadelphia, PA area, but are open to candidates based in Harrisburg, PA or Pittsburgh, PA areas (or open to relocation to any of these locations).
DETAILS: This is a full-time position and you will report to our Campaign Director. CeaseFirePA works on a hybrid model where there is a local office with an average of 2 days a week in the office to connect with other team members and coordinate activities.
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary is $50,000-$60,000, depending on ability and experience. We have an excellent benefits package for full-time staff, including fully-covered health care for them and one dependent, paid time off, retirement plan with matching support, and a training stipend.
