IT Technician and Licensing Specialist

Tucson, AZ

This position is responsible for supporting the Center’s software and hardware inventory and licensing; supporting Center staff members with technical support and training; and assisting other IT staff as needed.

This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and works closely with the IT team, and other program areas as necessary.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Licensing and purchasing (40%)

  • Maintains IT vendor accounts.
  • Ensure that all software in use is correctly licensed.
  • Ensures the support contracts are up to date and renewed when required.
  • Maintains software and hardware licensing database.
  • Maintains portfolio of supported software and hardware.
  • Compiles, and processes monthly credit card expense reports.
  • Researches and evaluates products and services related to IT equipment and software purchases.
  • Develop and maintain inventory records and procurement schedules for IT equipment and software.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards and regulations for purchasing and information security.
  • Monitor market trends and technological advancements to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Conduct market research for new suppliers and products to consider for future purchasing needs.

Staff support (40%)

  • Respond to and document staff support calls.
  • Performs initial troubleshooting for staff issues.
  • Escalates calls to appropriate IT staff member.
  • Provide support and guidance to end-users on purchasing processes and procedures.
  • Assist with computer preparation and maintenance.
  • Assists users with software in supported portfolio (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe reader).
  • Provides end-user training on basics of software and hardware.
  • Performs file uploads for staff.

Assist IT staff (20%)

  • Provide support to other IT staff as needed.


Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in the information technology field.
  • 2+ years of experience with purchasing and licensing of software and hardware.
  • 2+ years of experience with software security requirements.
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft desktop operating systems in a support role.
  • 2+ years of experience working with staff in a support role.
  • 2+ years of experience in providing training to end users in software and hardware.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and orientation towards customer service.
  • College degree or commensurate professional experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

Preferential hiring locations for this position are Tucson, AZ,

Hours of positions need to be flexible in order to ensure coverage from early morning through evening hours
Potential for part time (30+ hours per week)
