Food & Water Watch is looking for a Volunteer Network Coordinator to join our Organizing team and support campaigns to protect our food, water, and climate by working with our incredible volunteers across the country. The Volunteer Network Coordinator will work closely with volunteers and other staff at Food & Water Watch.

About the position:

The Volunteer Network Coordinator will report to the Volunteer Network Deputy Director and will work with other staff on the Organizing team to support Food & Water Watch’s work. The Volunteer Network Coordinator will recruit and support volunteers working to pass policies to protect our most essential resources. The Volunteer Network Coordinator will primarily work on campaigns to build support for protecting our food, water, and climate at the federal level. This is a part-time temporary position lasting for 6 months. The ideal start date for this position is March 1st, however, this is flexible for the right candidate.

Salary: $20/hour

Location: Remote position, can be based anywhere in the U.S.


  • Work directly with our incredible teams of volunteers across the National Volunteer Network to advance our goals for safe food, clean water, and a livable climate.
  • Participate in planning and executing public-facing volunteer events, including regular volunteer orientations, phone/text banks, monthly team meetings, and trainings as needed.
  • Help manage online communications with volunteers to share relevant news, campaign victories, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Conduct one-on-one outreach to recruit and engage prospective volunteers in our work.
  • Help develop guides and resources for volunteers and for Food & Water Watch staff in supporting volunteers.
  • Assist in recognizing volunteers for their contributions and re-engaging volunteers at key points in their engagement journey with us.
  • Maintain familiarity with a diverse set of issues, research products, and FWW’s suite of digital organizing tools, and respond to information and support requests from volunteers.
  • Regularly report on work to supervisors and donors.
  • Participate in both advocacy and electoral strategies and tactics on behalf of either/both Food & Water Watch (c3) and Food and Water Action (c4).
  • Participate in membership recruitment and fundraising for Food & Water Watch/Action.
  • Support Our Culture of Philanthropy: Demonstrate an understanding of the essential role of our members and supporters, and consistently serve as an ambassador for FWW/FWA and our work.
  • Participate in or attend events and other activities as appropriate that are organized for our supporters and donors. Be cognizant of fundraising opportunities and share contacts and information that will help build and sustain FWW/FWA.
  • Carry out other projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

To perform this job successfully, the person in this position is expected to be willing to develop an understanding of FWW’s Strategic Organizing model. The Volunteer Network Coordinator will be expected to work closely with organizing staff and volunteers to assist in moving campaigns forward. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Ability to understand effective organizing strategies. Previous volunteer experience, preferably with some background engaging on environmental issues. Experience supporting volunteers is a plus.

Computer Skills: An individual should be able to work in a computerized environment and have adequate knowledge of word processing, email, internet and spreadsheet software.

Compensation: $20/hour
