Executive Director

Summary: The Executive Director (ED) is the principal steward of the organization. The ED sets the strategic direction and vision of the organization, in partnership with a member-led Board of Directors. In addition, the ED secures the organization’s financial well being; leads the implementation of its vision and stated goals; and supports the development of its staff and membership.
The Executive Director should:
- Share a commitment to community organizing as a core strategy for building power among historically excluded communities;
- Possess a strong political analysis, including a grasp of the intersections of economic, environmental, and racial justice;
- Be ready to embrace N2N’s process-oriented, collaborative culture;
- Lead with love.
The organization’s next leader will share N2N’s core values, which include: solidarity, integrity, and self-determination.

Hours: Full time salaried
Salary: $100,000 – $120,000
Work environment: Hybrid: most work conducted virtually, but regular travel required
Direct reports: Campaigns Director, Managing Director, Communications Director, and Project Organizer
Location: Must live in Massachusetts or move within 3 months, or live within easy commute to one of our 5 offices in Boston, Holyoke, Springfield, Worcester, or Lynn, MA.

Core Responsibilities:
- The Executive Director will partner with the Board of Directors in setting the organization’s strategic direction. Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the strategic direction in collaboration with the board and staff Leadership Team. Develop a shared understanding of what’s happening in the world to inform the following: shared political analysis, organizing and campaign goals, and communications and fundraising goals.
- N2N’s leader will set and lead continuous staff and organizational cultural transformation. Oversee the continuous strengthening of N2N’s organizing program.
- Ensure the integrity and quality of overall campaign strategy. With support of the leadership team, drive organizational culture that is values-based, with ample participation, that centers shared leadership.
- Finally, the organizational director will support development of fundraising strategy, and build relationships with individual donors and foundation contacts.

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes and experiences:
- Track record of success working within communities of color, women and gender-oppressed people, low-income people, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and other historically marginalized communities, especially centering the fight against anti-Blackness.
- Ability to develop strategy with a large group of people and hold responsibility for sticking to the vision.
- Proven ability to analyze situations with an equity and inclusion lens and refine internal processes accordingly.
- Exceptional supervision and coaching skills, including managing staff.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to organizing, carrying out political education, and movement building.
- Experience in developing, directing, and managing multiple projects and implementing program goals.
- Ability to build consensus, reach agreements, and help resolve conflicts.
- Familiarity with budgeting and non-profit financial management
- An understanding of how to set and meet fundraising goals
- Committed to working with and for a membership who holds bottom line responsibility for the goals and direction of the organization
